REEDS recognized the pressing issue of illiteracy among children in slums and the Gujar caste. In response, the organization initiated free education centers, providing educational opportunities to those in need. Over time, these centers transitioned to government-supported initiatives under the Education Guarantee Scheme, ensuring sustained access to education for vulnerable children.
In 2004, REEDS extended its focus to combat human trafficking, mainly prevalent in the Tanakpur area of Champawat district, Uttarakhand. With partners such as the Manav Seva Sansthan, Gorakhpur, REEDS established a vigilance cell near the international border, facilitating the safe return of victims to their homes. The organization launched the Ujjwala project in 2010, offering rehabilitation services to women and children affected by trafficking. To date, 1285 individuals have been reunited with their families through this initiative.
